Our wagon wheel benches and chairs are made with authentic antique wagon or farm implement wheels and 1.5″ to 2″ thick eastern red cedar, walnut, osage orange or mesquite and finished with a UV resistant varnish or oil. The backrest’s are built at a comfortable angle. In most cases the benches weigh 200 – 250 pounds and can be disassembled into four pieces. These benches are rock solid and will last for many, many years. Let’s face it folks, these wheels are already 100 years old and will outlast any wooden wheel. I am convinced my benches are built to outlast any bench offered by my competitors.
You will notice most of the benches and chairs are sold. If you see one that you like, just send me an email and we can discuss making you a similar bench. Prices will generally range between $700 and $950 depending on the wood used and options implemented in the construction of the bench. Prices are listed below. Contact me at sycamorecreekcreations@gmail.com if you would like to discuss a custom bench of your own.
Delivery is available to the central Texas area. If shipping is necessary, it will most likely run $500 or more depending on the shipping distance. We try to keep wheels in stock but they are not easy to find and not always available.
These benches will require periodic refinishing if exposed to outdoor elements to keep their original look, or they may be allowed to age naturally. The frequency will depend on the level of exposure. Indoor benches will require very little or no maintenance to retain their original look. Cedar is recommended for benches exposed to both rain and sun as it is more rot resistant than mesquite or walnut.

SOLD MESQUITE BENCHES
Mesquite is an excellent choice for an indoor bench or on a covered porch that is protected from rain and a lot of UV rays. Mesquite will have more bends, inclusions, wavy grain and character than most other woods. In a lot of cases, epoxy work is necessary to fill cracks and inclusions. In other cases they are left natural to add to the character of the bench.

SOLD CEDAR BENCHES
Cedar is an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor benches. It has naturally occuring oils and is rot and bug resistant. Any wood will change color when exposed to a lot of outdoor elements but cedar will resist rot longer than most other woods. Cedar tends to grow straight.

SOLD OSAGE ORANGE BENCH
I’ve made a lot of benches but this is the first bodark (also known as osage orange or hedge). This wood is the perfect choice for an exceptionally durable bench. It is super hard and weather resistant. The wheels are already 100 years old and have another hundred to go. It wouldn’t surprise me if the wood went that long too. The wood is 48″ long. Contact me to have a similar bench built just for you.
